Introduction

I am not expecting anyone to read this. I am doing this solely for myself, to keep a record of what we are doing. However, if you have stumbled across this, welcome! My name is Katie. I am starting homeschooling today. My kids are 7 (2nd grade), 5 (kindergarten), and 3 (preschool). They were in "regular" schools until now. After the first quarter this year, we determined their needs were not being met, and they were starting to dislike school (despite loving learning), so we decided to start homeschooling.

We are ramping up, so not at full speed yet, but off to a good start. We are fortunate that the charter they were attending is very supportive. They will continue to provide speech services, and have also offered to let them come once a week for PE and music with their former classmates - we have not decided yet whether we want to do that for sure - as well as borrow curriculum and ask questions. We have found a local homeschool group that we are going to meet tomorrow to see if it is a good fit. We have signed up for a homeschool day at the local aquarium next month. I have ordered some curricula and materials and I am continuing to go through the wealth of information online.

The kids are excited, and I am looking forward to it - and not nearly as nervous as I would have thought. :-) Wish us luck!
